 It was odd, I thought to myself, in such a simple and plainatmosphere, how such clarity had foundits way to my thoughts. Myfriends come down to visit regularly, and between the free rooms I tempt themwith at my boutique hotel, to the immaculate beach here in Tulum, they’re oftentempted with the same sorts of ideas. I  had taken the jump I’d dreamt so long about; ofleaving the machine I had grown up around for warmer and more relaxing days. My move to Mexicowasn’t terribly outrageous seeing as though I’ve met plenty of people who longago did the same. But for me it was a monumental step in my life. Cold beers on the beachand lazy afternoons in the shade were things I could definitely get used to,but how? Life in the states had started to take its toll on yourstruly.It wasn’t long ago that I found myself on one of Tulum’sbeaches, relaxing under the shade of a droopy palm tree.But it was this lovely afternoon in Tulum when all of that just seemed to be blownaway by the same wind that was whispering through my hair. The grind of waking up every morning at five to the sound of an alarmclock had worn its way into my soul and late nights at the office became, embarrassingly,part of my daily routine. It was the way of life in New York City; where salaries and intense exertionon ones body are indicators of status and success. And sittinghere today, I’m all but frustrated I didn’t do it sooner. I found myself on the exact same beach, under the exact samepalm tree one year later. I had nestled myselfup with a good book was debating the prospect of quitting life in the statesall together and making this an everyday occurrence
